The Alchemy of Etching

An etching is a story written in copper.

I first began etching in 2010, doing small drypoints on plexiglas. The following year, I won a scholarship at Manhattan Graphics Studio and began learning the alchemical arts of making pictures on copper plates.

I work in line etch and aquatint. This is a medium that I never tire of; I love the process, the way it forces me to slow down. And I love the way there are always surprises; this is a medium that resists absolute control.

See what's available to buy— Etchings, paintings, drawings and archival prints are added as frequently as I find time to photograph them. Art can be a delightfully unexpected gift, too.
